Summertime!

The end of the school year is coming to a close.  I have been patiently completing the last few lessons with my chidren.  Math seems to be never ending! Poor Little Randy has about 10 more lessons to go before he is officially finished.  In addition to some good ole' R&R, I am looking forward to catching up on some long awaiting projects.

Vegetable Garden!  I have wanted to try my hand at gardening for many years now.  My wonderful husband made me a couple of raised gardening beds and filled them with dirt last night.  I planted a few things right away.  Now, I guess it is time to wait and see if anything really happens...lol!  I have told myself repeatedly that this year is a "trial-and-error" year.  I will NOT give my hopes up.  But, I am hopeful to gain at least a few fruits for my labor.

My office.  I was so excited about finding the floorplans for this house when we decided to build, one reason being that it has an office, or study. I didn't know that I was going to be a homeschooler at the time, but being one now has put that room to work!  Unfortunatley, it gets very neglected throughout the year.  I have a tendancy to throw things in there and shut the door with the mindset of "getting back to it later." My dear old hubby has picked up on my horrible habit and has often contributed.  Needless to say, the room is a WRECK!!!  I started picking around in there a little last night.  There are many things that just need to be gotten rid of.  Some of the things are good, like books and such, it's just that I haven't touched them since they went in there.  I think that just might be a sign that I don't really need them.

Big Boys' Bedroom. After I finish perfecting my office, I will start tackling the big boys' bedroom.  I have already painted the walls, but I have much more in mind.  We live in a large 4-bedroom house, but those two munchkins are inseperable, so we have decided to let them share a room.  They are both enrolled in martial arts classed, so I have decided to decorate with martial arts.  They have identical beds, but they need to be painted.  I started off priming them awhile back, but failed to realize that I should have sanded them first.  So, first thing will be taking them outside for some sanding, then painting. I cannot find the bedding that I want, so I have asked my mother-in-law to help me make a couple of simple black quilts. I plan on displaying their belts that they have earned on belt racks above each of their beds, along with some inspirational martial arts posters on the walls. And, the biggest of my endeavor... to paint their school emblem on the wall above the nightstand that sits between their two beds.  Shew!  Seeing that written out makes me realize how much I have lying ahead.

The Basement Dungeon. Ugh! There is no better word for the basement. Ugh! The problem?  Too many toys!!!!! My job will entail gathering up many toys that don't get played with and donating them.  Then, of course, I will need to repaint the walls and steam clean the carpet.  Doesn't sound like too much, but trust me.... it is!

Those are the BIG projects.  I have many other chores to accomplish like washing windows, cleaning out kitchen cabinets, cleaning out the garage, etc.  Those things are boring, so I won't waste anymore time with the ghory details.

When I get a chance, I will add some before pictures here. I will then write about my projects as I complete them along with some after pictures. Wish me luck!
